Bericht vom rechten Rand

Am 14. Juli fand in der Stadt Kuressaare auf der Insel Saaremaa das XX. Treffen der Union der Kämpfer für die Freiheit Estlands (est. Eesti Vabadusvоitlejate Liidu) statt. Es kamen ca. 400 Teilnehmer, sowohl aus Estland, als auch aus dem Ausland. Es wurde ein Gedenkstein an die Schlacht in Techumardi während des Zweiten Weltkriegs und eine Gedenktafel aufgestellt. Diese Veranstaltung ist normalerweise nicht so bekannt, wie das Treffen der Veteranen der Estnischen Legion der Waffen-SS in Sinimäe, das übrigens am 28. Juli stattfinden wird, doch diesmal ließ es sich der neue Verteidigungsminister Urmas Reinsalu nicht nehmen, daran teilzunehmen und eine Rede zu halten.

In der Rede betonte er, dass die Kämpfer für die Freiheit Estlands die Ehre des estnischen Volkes gerettet hätten. Es wäre auch klar, dass der unabhängige estnische Staat der Hauptgarant für den Erhalt des estnischen Volkes wäre. Das wäre die zentrale Frage der nationalen Sicherheit.

Nachdem in Februar das estnische Parlament eine Resolution verabschiedete, die Dank und Anerkennung all denjenigen aussprach, die für die Freiheit Estlands gekämpft haben, waren es äußerst neblige Formulierungen, so dass in Prinzip jeder sich angesprochen fühlen konnte. Doch nun, durch die Rede vor vielen ehmaligen Mitgliedern der Estnischen Legion und anderen Truppen, die einen Eid auf Hitler geschworen haben, wird es klar, wer in der Resolution gemeint war. Es ist äußerst unwahrscheinlich, dass der Verteidigungsminister eine ähnliche Rede am 9.Mai vor der Veteranen der Roten Armee halten wird.

Eine interessante Veranstaltung für die jüngeren Verehrer von der Estnischen Legion ist sicherlich der Auftritt der rechten Band Death in June in der Von Krahl Bar in Tallinn. Das pikante dabei ist, genau in dieser Bar wurde das Free Pussy Riot Konzert veranstaltet, bei dem der estnische Präsident Ilves anwesend war. Ob ein medienwirksamer Besuch einer Kneipe, die rechte Konzerte veranstaltet, für Herr Gauck so politisch gesund wäre? In Estland hat es nicht mal jemand gemerkt.

Von braunzonebw wurde mir folgender Link zugeschickt. Es wird über den Rücktritt des lettischen Justizministers berichtet, der sich geweigert hat jüdische Organisationen zu entschädigen, deren Besitz von der Nazibesatzung konfisziert wurde.

Wenigstens gibt es eine Stellungnahme von Welt ohne Nazismus. Der Vorsitzende Boris Spiegel schreibt zu der Veranstaltung in Kuressaare:

On the glorification of Nazism in Estonia

On July 14, 2012 Estonia’s Defense Minister, Urmas Reinsalu, took part in the 20th rally of the so-called "Union of Freedom Fighters", which unites the former Waffen SS soldiers with other military units that fought on the side of Nazi Germany. Characteristically, the majority of the so- called “freedom fighters” present at the rally had a sign of the 20th SS division on their clothes, which allows us to assert that they were veterans of this particular division. According to state television and radio company, ERR, Estonia's Defense Minister expressed gratitude to the veterans of the Wehrmacht for their bravery in his speech at the rally. According to him, Hitler's henchmen’ contribution to the Republic of Estonia is crucial, "because they saved the honor of the Estonian people." According to the same TV source, the Minister also assured the audience that today's generation of Estonians is guided by the "freedom fighters”’s self-sacrifice.

So on behalf of the Estonian state, Urmas Reinsalu showed the world that the Nazi ideology could have an excuse, and that the executioners of Hitler’s orders in Estonia could become national heroes. The reason for such a complete disregard for the rule of law and human morality lies in the connivance of neo- Nazi sentiment in the upper echelons of the government of Estonia and the reluctance of the EU leadership to pay attention to attempts to falsify history and to glorify Nazi criminals in Europe.

International Human Rights Movement "World Without Nazism" repeatedly warned that the movement to defend Nazi ideas in Estonia is becoming increasingly progressive in its course: the war with the monuments, the awarding of state awards to nationalist activists, the Ministry of Defense’s funding of the SS veterans organizations, war games "Erna", which are based on real combat route of Nazi Germany’s diversionists in the Soviet Union, and gatherings of friends of the 20th SS division.

The people of Europe suffered huge casualties in the struggle against fascism, and we must never forget that. Attempts by the Estonian authorities to review the history and to present Wehrmacht soldiers as heroes and anti-fascists as extremists are not only insulting to the people of Europe that survived a difficult war and occupation, but they are a powerful destabilizing factor in modern politics, aiming to justify Nazism and to revise the postwar world.

Another demonstrative act of worship of the SS veterans’ "feats" is expected on July 28th in the Estonian town of Sinimyae, where the Estonian SS division was defeated in a heavy battle in 1944. On this day we expect another batch of praise to the Nazi warriors. In this regard, "World Without Nazism" expresses its strong protest against the unprecedented actions of the Estonian authorities and calls on the Council of Europe, UN and other international organizations to take immediate and decisive action in the case of Estonia, whose policy is fundamentally at odds with the principles of the postwar world order, with the principles on which modern Europe was built.
